Culture shock is the feeling of confusion and anxiety that people get when they visit a foreign country or a place that is very different from the one they are used to. These people usually go through four stages before they feel at home in the new place. When they first arrive, everything seems marvelous and they feel excited. However, when the exciting days of the honeymoon stage are over, they begin to experience a period of crisis. As they have trouble adjusting to the new environment, they become homesick. If these people take a realistic attitude towards the new experience and stick homesick. If these people take a realistic attitude towards the new experience and stick with it, they gradually learn about the system, custom and the language of the place. Then they move from the recovery stage into that of adjustment, in which they have learned enough of the language to communicate with the local people and they become well adapted to the new environment.
