Topic:How did Fotheringay s attitude towards miracle change?
Mr. Fotheringay didn't believe in miracles until he was thirty years old. But one day he could rise a lamp turning upside down without breaking and going on burning steady. Facing the fact, he was astonished beyond measure and he felt terribly puzzled. "What on earth hap- pened?" he asked himself. Then he decided on another experiment. By collecting his mind he could raise his candle, hung in the air for a momentw and will the candle to be lit. Up to now he asked himself again:"What about miracles?" Couldn't he still believe in miracles? His thought was confused. After the subsequent experiments^ which were all successful. he had reached the fact that his will power must be unusual and strong. The fears of his first discovery were now mixed with pride and ideas of advantage. He used his will powers to get himself a toothbrush, a nice soft woolen night shirt, a delicious fresh goose egg, and even he could finish the whole day's work just in the last ten minutes, his state of mind passed from wonder to delimit.
