大雾天气对交通影响很大，飞机不能起飞和着陆，高速公路上行驶的汽车，河面、湖面和海面上航行的船舶等，都因雾天能见度差而引起交通事故增多。另外，雾也给农业生产带来危害。连续数天大雾将使农作物因缺乏光照而影响生长，诱使病害发生。比如小麦抽穗时若遇上连续三天以上的大雾天气，就容易引发赤霉病。诸如此类的事故及危害都源于大雾天气。
Fog has a great impact on transportation. Due to the poor visibility, airplanes cannot take off or land, and cars on expressways and ships on rivers, lakes and seas may have more accidents. Further, fog can do harm to farm production. Continuous foggy weather may retard the growth of crops for lack of sunshine and may lead to plant diseases. For example, when the wheat is earning up, a heavy fog lasting for 3 days or more is likely to result in wheat scab. Accidents and damages of such sort are all caused by heavy fog.
