TOPIC: List some of the good virtues that the washwoman possessed and describe how unusual she was. Use the outline given below.
• her sense of duty and her strong will to fulfill her tasks
• her affection and her tolerance for her son
• her self-esteem and her independence
①ALTHOUGH THE WASHWOMAN LOOKED SMALL AND PLAIN, SHE POSSESSED NUMEROUS VIRTUES WORTH OF MENTION. ONE OF THEM IS HER PERSEVERANCE AND HER STRONG WILL TO FULFILL HER TASKS. DESPITE HER AGE AND THE DIFFICULTIES SHE WENT THROUGH IN THE PROCESS OF HER WASHING, SHE DID HER BEST TO ENSURE THAT EVERY PIECE OF HER LAUNDRY WAS AS CLEAN AS POLISHED SILVER AND WAS NEATLY IRONED. SHE DID NOT CEASE WORKING EVEN ON SEVERE WINTER DAYS.
②HER AFFECTION AND TOLERANCE FOR HER SON ARE ALSO IMPRESSIVE. ALTHOUGH HER HEARTLESS SON NEVER CAME TO SEE HER, SHE DIDN'T FEEL SAD AND BITTER. FURTHERMORE, SHE WAS SO DIGNIFIED THAT SHE NEVER BOTHERED HIM.
③ANOTHER VIRTUE OF THE LADY IS HER SELF-ESTEEM AND SELF-INDEPENDENCE. SHE COULD HAVE BEGGED AT THE CHURCH DOOR OR ENTERED A HOME FOR THE POOR AND AGED, BUT INSTEAD SHE CHOSE TO RELY TOTALLY ON HERSELF.
