InaneditorialpublishedthisweekintheBritishJournalofSportsMedicine,ElinEkblom-BakoftheSwedishSchoolofSportandHealthSciencessuggestedthatauthoritiesrethinkhowtheydefinephysicalactivitytohighlightthedangersofsitting. Whilehealthofficialshaveissuedguidelinesrecommending~nini~numamountsofphysicalactivity,theyhaven'tsuggestedpeopletrytolimithowmuchtimetheyspendinaseatedposition. Thatwasn'twelcomenewsforAytekinCan,31,whoworksataLondonfinancialcompany,andspendsmostofhisdayssittinginfrontofacomputer.Severaleveningsaweek,Canalsoteachesjiujitsu,aJapanesemartialartinvolvingwrestling,andalsodoesThaiboxing. "I'msuretherearesomedetrimentaleffectsofstayingstillfortoolong,butIhopethatbeingactivewhenIcanhelps,"hesaid."Iwouldn'twanttothinkthesittingcouldbethatdangerous."
