Thiseffortto"disrupt"thefieldofteacherpreparationintheUnitedStateshasgainedconsiderablemomentumandlegitimacy,withventurecapitalists,philanthropy,andtheU.S. DepartmentofEducationallprovidingsponsorshipandsubstantialfunding. ThestrengthofthiseffortisthattheUnitedStatesmayquicklyseektodismantleitsuniversitysystemandreplacemuchofitwithindependent,privateprograms.Theresultingsystemofteacherpreparationmaydifferdramaticallyinitsgovernment,structure,content,andprocessesmovingawayfromitscurrentlocationalongsidelegal,medical,andotherprofessionalpreparationthatpairsacademicdegreeswithprofessionaltraining.
