What is special about the past perfect in its hypothetical use?And how is it used?Give at least one example for each use.
The past perfect in hypothetical use denotes a condition or something which was not fulfilled. What is referred to is contrary to the fact since the reference is to the events or states which belong to the past and are thus irrevocable. It is often used in a clause introduced by if as if,etc. It may also be used in the that-clause following wish, would rather;etc.or with such verbs as expect,intend,want,etc.i.e.If you had worked harder, you wouldn't have lost the job.
