Dear Sir/Madam:
I believe in true idea exchanges at all levels of learning and teaching and at all stages of individual and social life. Just as teachers and students learn from each other in open honest, two-way communication in varied forms, so do societies enrich, stimulate, learn from, and teach each other. My role as catalyst would be as both teacher and learner. The years I have- all of them- brought me immense satisfaction and uncountable rewards of mind and heart. These riches, I wish to“re-invest”in an ancient and beautiful land such as China, and share with its people the heritage of one of our planet earth’s oldest and most splendid cultures.Recent(1979-1980 an continuing) meetings with some visiting Chinese scholars in Berkeley, California, have further heightened and consolidated my strong desire to teach in China.
Courses I can offer and would be happy and privileged to teach are:1.Basic English Competence in speaking, reading, and writing.
2.English Literature Survey Courses; Essays, novels, drama, poetry in English and American literature.
3.Psychology, Sociology and Methods in Teacher’s Training, especially those related to the teaching of English and History.
4.British and American History related to their societies and to public education.
I am willing to accept the same salary as Chinese professors and expect no special treatment. I am equally willing to pay my own travel expenses to China.
Sincerely
